BEHIND OUR NAME & LOGO

Our team name is Team Orcas. While we were looking for a name we decided we wanted something to do with the ocean, as our school science program does a marine managers program with the Dolphin Discovery Centre. In that program there is a lot of links with dolphins, Orcas are a part of the dolphin family, so we thought that was the perfect fit. Orcas also have characteristics and qualities which are needed for success in subs in schools. These characteristics include, resourceful, agile, communication, work in coordinated manner and strategy. Real submarines need to operate in all types of conditions to carry out surveillance, protection and research missions. They need to be adaptable to different conditions and so do orcas as orcas live all around the world.

Our logo is simple yet sleek, with a modern twist. It consists of two solid strips down the side, our teams name in the middle and an Orca on the right. The colours chosen were inspired by our local beach; the Back Beach. The orange was influenced by the sunset, and the blue from the water.
