OUR SCHOOL & HISTORY

Our school, Newton Moore Senior High School is situated in Bunbury, a regional centre in the South West Region, 175 kilometres south of Perth. Newton Moore is a comprehensive independent public co-educational high school. Our school prides itself in being a Science Specialist school offering students a choice of two Department of Education endorsed specialist programs; Science Horizons and Engineering. Newton Moore realises the importance of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) to the future careers of students and have an emphasis on STEM curriculum and pathways. Newton Moore’s students embrace the school’s vision: ‘Achieving Today, for Tomorrow’, and take challenge in their stride as a part of their life long development.

Last year in 2018, three team members; Abby, Chloe, and Shaofeng participated in Subs in Schools, placing fourth at states. We competed in the ROV level 2 class and qualified for Nationals, held in Sydney, in December 2018. We competed as a group of five called the Aqua Cogs. At Nationals, Aqua Cogs placed 2nd in the best managed enterprise and placed 3rd in best team marketing.

We were very inspired from last years’ experience, so we decided to recruit two new team members for a new team. Our team this year contains 5 members, called the Orcas.
