Subs in Schools Technology Challenge is the result of collaboration between REA, the Department of Defence and industry stakeholders including the Australian Submarine Corporation and Saab Australia. In this competition, students design either a Remotely Operated Underwater Vehicle (ROV) or a submarine which they must operate.
As a team competing in the level for competition, we will utilize industry- standard technology to design, code and manufacture a fully operational capable scale model submarine. In addition to developing a wide range of skills in design, engineering and manufacturing, we will develop ‘soft skills’ sought by industry including project management, teamwork, collaboration, collaboration, problem solving and communication.
The competition requires the complete design to manufacture process to be documented, along with team marketing and promotion. Students are also required to form one or more specific industry partnership to obtain advice or even assistance with manufacturing components. Industry links are a very important part of the challenge marketing criteria.
